Teachers

All of our teachers at Charlesworth Walsh are qualified and accredited educators in their field.  As our Principal and Director have worked for many years in the professional theatre industry, they are aware of the requirements to succeed in this world. Our staff undertake their work with integrity and care, pass on their love of the dance to every child, are passionate about the performing arts and strive to develop a love of the arts in children. All our teachers have current Working with Children permits.

We are dedicated in our roles of dance educators and strive to develop creativity and confidence while nurturing each child to attain their full potential.  We do this by combining a well-constructed class with technical correction delivered with patience, kindness and good humour. Classes at Charlesworth Walsh are an enjoyable experience for everyone!

Rosslyn Charlesworth

Our director, Rosslyn Charlesworth is a life member and fellow of the Imperial Society Of Teachers Of Dancing [London].  She is also a Fellow of Cecchetti Ballet Australia and is qualified to teach Cecchetti candidates at all levels.

Rosslyn keeps abreast of all developments in dance by regularly attending relevant seminars, courses, conferences and workshops.  In addition, she is active as an adjudicator at Dance Competitions and is much sought after for assessing at other schools of dance.

Rosslyn studied with Madam Saranova, Kathleen Gorham, Paul Hammond and Peggy Sager.  She has toured Europe, attended the Cologne International Summer School Of Dance and invitational seminars for professors of dance with internationally renowned Marika Besobravosa of the Ecole de Danse Classique de Monte Carlo.

Monique Fox

Monique is a member of the Commonwealth Society Of Teachers Of Dance Incorporated, Australia with 24 years teaching experience. She has danced professionally both here and overseas. Monique has studied at the Rosslyn Charlesworth School Of Ballet and Dance, GITAS and Bolshoi schools in Russia and with the Vienna State Opera.

She has successfully trained students for examinations, productions and competitions in classical, tap, and jazz.  Monique is our chief choreographer for our annual Cabaret Events, designing and arranging ideas, items and costumes.  She has also directed and choreographed school concerts and productions, and worked as a dance teacher at the Peninsula Special Developmental College.

Recently, Monique trained with the world renowned Contemporary choreographer Jason Winters and will be introducing his new syllabus into the school.

As well as being an accomplished teacher, Monique is a choreographer and is in great demand as an adjudicator.

Angie Lee

Angie has been dancing at the Charlesworth Walsh Dance Centre since the age of four. She was a teacher’s assistant through her teenage years and has been teaching her own classes for over ten years. An Associate member of Cecchetti Ballet Australia, she has prepared many students for their exams with high results attained. Angie teaches Tap, Classical & Contemporary classes. She also taught at the Peninsula Special Developmental College and choreographed numerous State High school productions. Angie has a Double Arts / Law Degree and a Post Graduate Degree in Human Rights Law. She feels very passionately about all forms of dance. She loves the artistry, discipline, self-confidence and friendships that dance brings.

Rachel Crofts

Rachel has been dancing at the Charlesworth Walsh Dance Centre since she was five years old. During her early teenage years she was a teacher’s assistant, and began teaching her own classes after completing high school. She has attained her Cecchetti advanced 1 and has completed many tap examinations. Rachel currently teaches Classical, Jazz and Tap to students at all three of our studios. She has a passion for working with children and teaches many of your junior classes. Rachel has a Bachelor of Primary Education and currently works as a primary school teacher. She regularly choreographs dance items for her Primary School and recently directed and choreographed a whole school production.

Sarah Dalton

Sarah has been dancing since she was four and has been at the Charlesworth Walsh Dance Centre since the age of six. She has been teaching her own classes for many years, after having been a teacher’s assistant throughout high school. After having passed her Cecchetti Associate Exam in 2009, she has prepared many students for their ballet exams with high results attained. She also achieved great results in VCE dance in 2004. Sarah has a sound understanding of the muscles and joints in the body as a fully qualified massage therapist. She has also worked for many years as a State Manager for Platypus Shoes in VIC/SA/WA.

Shaylee Naumann

Shaylee began dancing at the age of 3. She has experience in jazz, tap, ballet, hip hop, contemporary and acro. Shaylee is currently completing a full time dance course at Spectrum Dance. She is learning more styles there including musical theatre, drama, singing and partnering. After graduating from Spectrum, Shaylee wishes to delve into musical theatre and follow her passions for dance, singing and drama. In 2017 she was accepted into the Melbourne Storm cheerleading team. Shaylee currently teaches contemporary and jazz at Charlesworth Walsh Dance Centre.
